Richard S. Slaton is Executive Director, Senior Commercial Banker, JPMorgan Chase. Prior to JPMorgan Chase, Slaton was Senior Vice President within Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Global Commercial Banking Group, Community Development Bank. The Community Development Bank’s mission is to help build and preserve affordable housing, improve education and create jobs, transforming under-served and long-neglected blocks into vibrant neighborhoods. We provide financing, make equity investments and develop real estate, as well as deliver other creative financial products in low- and moderate-income areas across the country, working with individuals, government, non-profit organizations and business.

Prior Bank of America, he was Director of Real Estate with MARTA (Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority), a part of the Office to Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and Real Estate that oversees prospective development of transit oriented projects.

From 2004 to 2015, Mr. Slaton worked as the Real Estate Investment Manager within the Real Estate Services Group at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. In his role, Mr. Slaton provided real estate asset management, investment management and advisory services to U.S. Trust, Bank of America clients.

Prior to U.S. Trust, he worked as a Real Estate Development Manager with The Integral Group, LLC where he focused on the development of mixed-use, conventionally financed projects. During Mr. Slaton’s career he also worked at Wachovia Bank as a Real Estate Lender and Fulton County Government as a Real Estate Manager.

Mr. Slaton graduated from Morehouse College with a BA in Finance and minors in Real Estate and Accounting. He holds an MBA in Finance from Kennesaw State University. He is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and a licensed real estate broker in the state of Georgia. Mr. Slaton is on the business school faculty at Morehouse College where he lectures on topics related to Corporate Finance, Investment Finance and Real Estate Finance. Mr. Slaton is Past President of GA CCIM Chapter, a CCIM Instructor and 2019 CCIM Institute University Outreach Sub-committee Chair. Mr. Slaton also served on the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors Board of Directors and currently serves on the Education Committee and serves on the American Real Estate Society’s (ARES) Research Committee. Mr. Slaton is currently working towards his Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) at Heriott-Watt University’s Edinburgh Business School where his research interests are Dodd-Frank Act and its’ impact on Community Banks.
