Kaela Hammond

Program Officer for Housing Funds, Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta

Kaela Hammond serves as the Program Officer for Housing Funds at the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, where she leads the TogetherATL Housing Policy and Programs portfolio. Her work spans a range of affordable housing initiatives across metro Atlanta, with an emphasis on efforts to advance systemic solutions to address barriers to affordable housing. Her role focuses on aligning nonprofits, donors, and civic leaders to advance shared affordable housing priorities.

Prior to joining the Foundation in 2024, Kaela served as Program Officer at the Coastal Community Foundation in Charleston, South Carolina. In that role, she led the Foundation’s fiscal sponsorship strategy, supporting several local housing initiatives, as well as designing and leading the Foundation’s inaugural Economic Mobility grant portfolio.

Kaela is a 2023–2024 Philanthropy Southeast Hull Fellow, a leadership development program for emerging leaders in Southern philanthropy. She brings a background in education and equity-focused community work, having begun her career teaching in Title I public schools.

Originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina, Kaela holds a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish from Wake Forest University. She resides in the City of Atlanta with her husband.
