Jacob Vallo

Sr. Director, Transit Oriented Development, MARTA

Jacob Vallo is the husband to wife Mary, and father to three children ages, 6, 8 and 16. Mr. Vallo was born in Providence, Rhode Island, grew up in Houston, Texas and has been a resident of the Atlanta metro area for over 23 years. For the last four years, Mr. Vallo has been the head of transit oriented development, real estate and public art at MARTA, the public transit agency in Atlanta. He reports directly to the Chief of Staff. MARTA’s mission is people getting people where they want to go. Mr. Vallo’s work is focused on getting people where they want to go in life by bringing mission driven buildings closer to transit. He leads MARTA’s efforts to work in partnership with the State of Georgia, three counties, 34 cities, numerous government officials, neighborhoods and other stakeholders to develop MARTA land for community needs. This might mean forming partnerships or raising money to build affordable housing, schools, grocery stores, medical buildings, parks, places where people work, solar energy and artwork all on MARTA’s land and with equity and sustainability as a focus. Prior to MARTA he spent 19 years raising capital, developing and investing in commercial property and land in the private sector. He brings this experience as a fiduciary of private capital to the management of public land. Mr. Vallo currently serves on the City of Atlanta’s Affordable Housing Strike Force, He served on the State of Georgia Governor’s COVID Task Force as a member of Dr. Bernice King’s Community Engagement Committee, Member of the Steering Committee for the City of Atlanta’s Resiliency Plan and is a member of the State of Georgia’s ARPA-H Coalition to compete for the headquarters for the new public health innovation agency established by U.S. President Joe Biden. Mr. Vallo has been an adjunct lecturer at Georgia Tech on and off for over 15+ years and has been a guest lecturer at Cornell University several times as well. He holds a bachelors degree from Texas A&M University and masters degree from Cornell University and draws, paints, meditates, plays the drums and enjoys being with his family in his spare time.
